Almost Christmas Time

We are approaching Christmas and all of the baked goodies come to my mind. This year I will go ahead and enjoy one or two, but I have to limit myself, which is something I've never done at Christmas time.

Last week I had my 4th fill and things have been a bit tricky at times. I have had problems with foods getting stuck in the band, causing heartburn and does not go away until the food passes or comes back up. Uncomfortable.

My goal is to get below 200 lbs by Christmas. I have 6 days, and I'm sitting at 200 pounds. I hope I can pull off that pound yet this week!!

I've went from a size 20/22 Jeans down to a 16 in 4 months! That makes me smile :)

October 28th, 2010

I haven't updated for awhile, so I thought I better check in.

Weight loss is going slow, but it's still going down, so that is a plus for me.

I have had my 2nd fill now, which sets my band to 6.25cc full. I am having problems eating breads, muffins, etc. These types of food get "stuck" in my band and give me instant heartburn that does not go away until the food passes or comes back up. Lucky for me, it does pass, it just takes some time, and is uncomfortable.

I'm trying to talk my husband into getting me a treadmill so won't have any excuse not to walk, especially during the winter months.

Current Weight: 210lbs.

Tomorrow is my first fill

Tomorrow will be one of my big days for my band. I will be having my first fill, and I'm looking forward to it.

I've been stuck on my weight now, and I think my biggest problem is I know I can eat now. I don't want to "know" I can eat because then I will do just that. I want to be able to eat a normal meal and quit, not go looking for other things an hour later.

I really hope with this fill, if not the 2nd fill that I notice a big change, and a good change in my weight.

Thank You for following me with this Journey-

A new month, time to get moving!

It's already September, where has the year went to already?

Tonight I have nasty heartburn. I'm hoping it goes away fast because it's really bothering me.
The weather is finally starting to cool down some so I am able to get outside more and get some walking done.

I am going to start taking weekly pictures to see if any progress is being seen. My husband tells me he can tell that I have lost some weight in my stomach, which is where I needed it most.

On a better note, I made it below 220 now!

Clear liquids for 24 hours

Today hasn't been a very good day here. I've felt sick most of the day with flu symptoms. I called to the doctor today and was told to do clear liquids for 24 hours and if I'm not better tomorrow I may have to come in. Theres so much stuff going around too, so I'm hoping its just a quick bug and that I Feel better tomorrow.

Progress not moving very fast

I feel like I'm stuck in a rut. The scale hasn't moved for days now and I wish it would. I find myself looking for something to eat alot, which I know is not a good sign. That's one negative thing about being a stay home mom. When I do eat though, I do notice I can't eat as much and I do feel full faster. I'll be happy to go in on the 15th to get the band filled and talk with the dietician. I need some good meal ideas with high protein to get me through each day, and a lock on the cupboards for now would help. :)

Thank You to my kids though who keep me active throughout the day. Mommy's going to soon have lots of energy for you two and we'll do lots more things together. xoxo

Food!!!

I can eat again!!!

I had my post-op Appointment yesterday with a good report. All of my incisions look good and are healing up nicely.

I got the okay to go away from the liquid diet and move onto foods. The Doctor said just keep chewing them up good and I should be able to handle it.

I will go back in 2 weeks for my first fill in the band. I'm excited to have it done!!

Just Another Day in Paradise

Today looks like a beautiful day to get outside and get some walking in. The kids love being outside, it's just getting them in the house that's the problem.

My husband and I went to the fair last night for a little bit. EVERYTHING looked so good, even the food I wouldn't normally eat. haha.

I've noticed that some of my clothes are starting to get a little bit baggy on me. That's a good thing that I'm loosing weight, but I didn't think I'd have to think about buying new clothes so soon.

Thank You to Amber for telling me I looked Great last night. I haven't heard that in a long time! Made my night!!

Another day closer

Today has been a pretty good day. I have more energy than I have in days. My stomach still hurts where the port is, but other than that, I feel great. I am still on liquids until next week. I also have my post-op doctors appointment on Tuesday. I hope he's happy with my weight loss so far. I know I am :)

August 12th

Today is surgery day. We stayed in a hotel last night near the hospital so we wouldn't have to be here so early today. My mom stayed with the twins last night so we could leave. I had a huge surprise when we checked into the hotel. My friend, Julie, was standing behind me at the desk!! I had NO clue she was coming. She was at the hospital when I got out of surgery too. Thank God for good friends!!

The doctor said surgery went well. It was about 40 minutes. I remember getting sick a little bit while I was in recovery and that was it. The nurses had me up within a few hours of being in my room to go for a walk. By 3pm I started drinking room temperature water, 1 ounce every hour for 4 hours, then one ounce every 15 minutes the rest of my stay. Although I was good and tired yet on Friday, I did go home later that day.

Weight: 234

August 2nd

Today I went to meet with the surgeon who will be doing my lapband procedure. In a couple days I will start a liquid diet and continue up until surgery. Surgery is set for Thursday August 12th at 7:30am. I have to check in at the hospital in Fridley, MN at 5:00am.

A little bit about me...

Born and raised in Southern Minnesota, I was brought up in a loving family. I lived with my parents, my sister and two older brothers. We all got along pretty good for the most part. My sister and I are still very close to this day, and I hope we always are.

I was born on November 16, 1981, one day after my mom's birthday. She said she knew I'd be late for everything since I was a day late of being her birthday present. I was an average size of 7 lbs 10 oz and 20 1/2" long. My mom told me I was her biggest child out of the four of us. To this day, I still am. Growing up in a small town, for the most part Elementary School wasn't too bad. I remember being one of the bigger kids all throughout my school days. There was enough name calling, you get that everywhere you go when you're not the skinny kid. I just got used to it I guess. It hurt inside, but I tried not to let it show on the outside. I always wanted to be sick on the days we would have track and field or the days we'd have to run the mile in gym class. Sixth grade came to an end and I had to go to a new school with many more students. I went from a class of 18 to well over 175 kids. I hated it. I wasn't ready to face a whole new group of kids who I knew would make fun of my weight. Kids are mean.

The years went by, day after day I'd be made fun of. I was used to it, but it still hurt me emotionally and mentally.

In 1998 I started my first full time job as a CNA. I love the job. I loved the residents and had so many fun co-workers that I looked forward to seeing daily.

In 2005, I married my best friend, Mark. We relocated to Fairmont, where we currently live. Together we have beautiful twins who were born October 2007.

Thank You for taking the time to read my Journey. This will not be easy by any means, but I am going to stick to it, and look for a brighter future for myself.
